A power recliner gets used for the morning paper, an afternoon nap and the evening news. A lift chair might be the only seat someone uses. That kind of steady contact leaves a film of hair spray, styling cream, hand lotion and skin oil exactly where the head and hands rest.
You will usually notice it as a darker patch on the headrest or a slightly sticky feel on the arm pads. It builds up slowly, so many folks do not see it until a cushion next to it looks noticeably lighter.
Whatever the type, we check a hidden area before going further, then pick the approach that fits. After cleaning, smooth leather can be conditioned to replace moisture the desert air takes out.

Common Sun Lakes setups:
The buildup from hair products and lotion usually comes off well, and a darkened headrest often ends up much closer to the rest of the chair. Grime in the seat and color rubbed off from clothing generally improve too.
Cleaning does not fix wear. Cracks where the leather folds when the chair reclines, peeling surface, spots worn to the hide, fading from a sunny window, tears and scratches will still be there afterward. We do not do repairs, recoloring or re-dyeing. If we think a chair will not change much, we say so up front.

Yes. We keep moisture well away from the motor and wiring and clean the leather by hand, not by soaking it.
