Price it yourself

Most Goodyear homes are tile from the front door through the great room, so the area rugs are doing the work carpet does elsewhere, and catching the dust that comes with it.

Pfaff Cleaning Co. is locally owned, with the owners overseeing every job. See our full process and service area on the main area rug cleaning page.

Why a range? The low end is your online price. Embedded pet hair or heavy staining simply takes more time to do right, and we do not do splash-and-dash cleanings, so the top of the range covers that. We move furniture on request, just not beds, bed frames, very heavy pieces, or anything with breakables on or in it. If a lot of moving is needed, the range covers it. Your price never goes above the top of this range for what you selected, unless the scope changes on site.

💳 Easy tap to pay with any card or phone wallet, or pay with cash or Zelle. No tax added, no card fees, and no hidden fees. Receipts by email or text.

📋 Estimated price is based on the details provided. Final pricing will be confirmed before service begins. If a visit minimum applies, it shows above your total, and it counts once for the whole visit, not per service, so combining services or adding optional add-ons is how most people clear it.

Material comes first. The wrong solution on wool causes browning, dye bleed, or fiber damage that cleaning cannot undo, so we identify what you own before anything touches it.

Some rugs are better handled off-site, and when that is the case we say so. That is specialist work, and we will point you to someone who does it.

What Your Neighbors Are Saying

Our Area Rug Cleaning Process

  1. Fiber and construction check. What the rug is made of, how it was made, the dyes, any existing damage, and whether it is a good fit for in-home cleaning, before we choose anything.
  2. Colorfastness test, when it is needed. A small hidden area first on any rug we are not sure of, which catches dye issues before they spread across the whole rug.
  3. Dry soil removal. Grit comes out before any moisture goes in. Wetting a rug full of dry soil turns it into mud in the foundation of the pile.
  4. Pre-treatment matched to the fiber. Wool and synthetic do not take the same chemistry, and treating them the same is how rugs get ruined.
  5. Cleaning and extraction. Controlled moisture and a thorough rinse, because residue left in a rug pulls soil back fast.
  6. Drying. Airflow and time, because a rug left damp on your floor is a different problem than the one you called about.
  7. Final walkthrough. We look at it together before we pack up, and if your rug would be better served off-site, we say so.

Why a Rug Costs More per Square Foot Than Carpet

Rugs are not carpet, and cleaning them like carpet is how they get ruined. Wool, viscose, cotton, and jute each react differently to heat, moisture, and cleaning chemistry. Put them through a generic carpet process and you get browning, dye bleed, or shrinkage that never comes out.

We identify the fiber before anything wet touches your rug, then clean it the way that fiber needs to be cleaned, or tell you when it belongs with a specialist. That expertise is what you are paying for: $1.70 a square foot online for synthetic, $2.98 for wool.

How Long Until It Is Dry

Usually a few hours, and we say within 24 hours to be safe. The 24 hours is on purpose, because different fibers and backings release moisture at different rates and we would rather beat the number than miss it. Airflow is what moves it: open a window, run the ceiling fan, set the HVAC fan to ON instead of AUTO. Ask and we will set an air mover on it before we go.

Rug Types We Clean

Wool, synthetic, cotton, and blends, plus Persian and Oriental rugs, shag, plush, flatweave, sisal and jute, silk blends, hide rugs, and machine-made area rugs. Wool and hand-knotted rugs get different chemistry and gentler agitation than a synthetic, which is why they are priced differently. Oriental and Persian rugs get identified before anything touches them, because dye stability and foundation fibers decide the method, not the price tag.

Where We Clean It, and What We Turn Down

We clean rugs in place, right where they lie, and you do not need to move anything. Expensive wool is normal work for us, hand-knotted, oriental, Persian, wool and silk blends. What we turn down is the truly high-value stuff and fragile antiques that need a wash pit and a controlled dry. We say no on those and tell you who does them properly, because we are not willing to carry that risk in your living room.

Before Anything Wet Touches Your Rug

When we are not sure how a rug's dyes will behave, we test in an inconspicuous spot first. Wool, silk blends, and hand-dyed rugs can run, and finding that out mid-clean is how a rug gets ruined.

Then dry soil removal. Grit and sand come out dry, because the moment they get wet they turn to mud and grind against the fiber. Skipping this step is why some rugs come back looking flat.

Then dry soil comes out before any moisture goes in, because wetting grit turns it into mud. We vacuum first on most jobs, and skip it when the rug is genuinely light on soil rather than charging you for motion.

When We Call a Stain Permanent

Most rugs come back looking like the rug somebody paid for. That is the normal outcome. We handle wool, silk blends, and antiques regularly.

We do not call a stain permanent until we have actually worked it, and on a rug we are not sure of, that means testing for dye bleed first. Some things are damage instead of soil, dye loss, sun fading, browning from a previous over-wetting, or urine that already reached the foundation. We tell you which is which before we start.

Air Movers on Request

We carry commercial air movers, Dri-Pod 360s and a low-profile Syclone, and if you want one running before we go, ask and we will set it up. It jump starts the drying rather than leaving the room to do it on its own.

The rest is airflow. Open a window, run the ceiling fan, kick the HVAC fan on, and the room dries a lot faster than a closed-up room with nothing moving. We will tell you what to expect for your place before we leave.

What Is Included

Synthetic, wool, cotton, and natural fiber rugs, cleaned in your home where that is the right method and identified for off-site handling where it is not.

Material Is the Whole Job

Synthetics are dimensionally stable and colorfast in most cases, and they tolerate in-home cleaning well. Wool is absorbent, can shrink, and reacts to high pH cleaners in ways synthetics do not. Viscose, sometimes sold as art silk or bamboo silk, loses strength when wet and distorts, and we will not clean it in the home.

Cotton foundations on hand-knotted rugs are prone to browning and dye migration when moisture is not controlled tightly, which is one of the main reasons some rugs are better washed off-site.

The Sanitizing Add-On, Explained

We use Decon 30, a botanical, EPA-registered disinfectant, applied with a fogger rather than a pump sprayer. It lands as a fine, high-power mist across the rug and settles through the room, so the fibers and the air get treated at once and nothing gets soaked. A soaked rug is a bigger problem than a dirty one, which is exactly why we mist instead.

Bring Out the Rug You Rolled Up

A lot of people have a rug in the garage or a closet because something happened to it and they did not know what to do next. A pet used it, a party ended badly, it got wet and started to smell. Then it sat.

Bring it out. Rolled-up rugs are a normal call for us, and sitting does not automatically mean ruined. We tell you honestly whether it can come back before you pay for anything.

The Pet Urine Question

Urine soaks through the rug, into the foundation, and often into whatever is underneath it. Surface cleaning addresses the top and leaves the rest, which is why the odor comes back. Real treatment means full saturation, flushing, and rinsing, which cannot happen responsibly on your floor. Mention it upfront and we will recommend the right approach rather than doing work that will not hold.

Why Goodyear Homes Need Area Rug Cleaning

Goodyear sits against open desert and new construction, and the fine dust from both blows in every time a door opens. In tile-floored great rooms in Estrella, Canyon Trails, and Centerra, the rug in front of the sofa is the one soft surface where all of that grit stops and stays.

After a monsoon storm, a rug can hold more dust than the floor around it. Vacuuming pulls the loose layer off the top, but the grit down at the base of the pile only comes out with a proper cleaning.

Planned Into One Visit

In Goodyear we schedule rugs on the same visit as your carpet, upholstery, or tile, so it all gets done in one trip. If a rug really belongs with an off-site washer, we tell you that instead of cleaning it in place just because we are in the house.

Area Rug Cleaning Goodyear, AZ FAQs

Please reach us at (480) 389-8415 if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Deodorizer or sanitizing?

Deodorizer is for smell: it knocks out odor and leaves a clean floral scent. Sanitizing is for the surface: Decon 30, a hospital-grade botanical disinfectant, misted over it. A lot of people add both, since one treats the surface and the other leaves it smelling fresh.

Can you clean my rug in my home?

Often yes, depending on fiber, construction, and condition. We look at it and tell you honestly whether in-home cleaning gives a good result.

Do you clean wool rugs?

Yes, with products matched to natural fiber and a colorfastness test on any rug we are not sure of.

Do you clean viscose rugs?

Not in the home. The fiber loses strength when wet and the risk of distortion and discoloration is high. We identify it and explain the options.

Will cleaning remove pet odor from a rug?

Surface treatment addresses the top layer. Urine that soaked into the foundation needs full saturation and flushing, and that is work we do.

How long does a rug take to dry?

Usually a few hours. In-home cleaning uses controlled moisture, and the dry Arizona air helps.

What about rugs with fringe?

Fringe is usually the foundation of the rug rather than attached decoration, so it needs careful handling. Worth pointing out when you request a quote.

How much does area rug cleaning cost in Goodyear?

Synthetic from $1.70/sqft online, or $2 regular. Wool from $2.98/sqft online, or $3.50 regular.

How do I measure a rug?

Multiply length by width in feet. A 9x12 comes out to 108 square feet. Put in the size of each rug in the box above, and it prices synthetic and wool for you.
