Air Duct Cleaning by Pfaff Cleaning Co. in the Phoenix area

Air Duct Cleaning Services in the Phoenix Area, AZ

5-Star Rated · Google Guaranteed · Fully Insured

Air duct cleaning removes the dust and debris that collects inside your ductwork and gets pushed back into the house every time the system runs. In the Valley, that is mostly fine desert dust, which is small enough to get past a standard filter and settle in the duct runs.

Pfaff Cleaning Co. provides air duct cleaning throughout Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Scottsdale, Queen Creek, Tempe, Ahwatukee, and Sun Lakes, priced per vent, with your number before we arrive.

The difference between a cleaning and a good cleaning is time. We take ours.

Our Air Duct Cleaning Process

  1. Inspection. We open a register and look before we start, so you know what we are dealing with: buildup, airflow concerns, and anything that needs extra attention.
  2. Protecting your home. Flooring and nearby surfaces in the work area get covered before cleaning begins.
  3. Agitation. We choose the tools based on the buildup in your system: an air whip on connecting air rods, fed through the ducts from one register to the next, a reverse air ball when the run calls for it, or a long rotary brush with different-sized heads.
  4. Vacuum extraction at each register. Everything loosened comes out at the register instead of resettling inside the system, and the vent covers and registers get cleaned too.
  5. Final check. We walk you through what we found and tell you anything about your system worth knowing.

Why Duct Cleaning Quotes Are All Over the Place

Call five companies and you will get five numbers that do not look related. There is a reason.

Some quote per system, some per vent, some a flat whole-house price. A flat price sounds simple until you realize a 2,000 sqft home with 14 vents and a 1,400 sqft home with 7 take very different amounts of work, and the flat number has to cover the bigger one. Per-vent pricing means you pay for what you have and nothing more.

The low advertised numbers usually cover a scope that is not the whole system. Worth asking anyone you call three things: are you cleaning the returns or just the supplies, are you agitating or just vacuuming, and is the number you just gave me the number I will pay.

Do the math on the low quotes. A whole-house duct cleaning done properly is a few hours of work with agitation at every run, plus setup and teardown. When someone advertises the entire house for $199, that is not a discount, that is a different scope.

Ours is $55.25 per vent or return online, $65 regular, and you can count your HVAC vents and returns yourself before you call.

Per-Vent Pricing Isn't a Game. It's the Whole Point.

A flat whole-house price has to be built for an average house, and nobody's house is average. Price it per vent and everything changes: every supply and every return is something you paid for, so every one of them gets cleaned like it, and we don't move on until the vent in front of us is done.

And when we're done, pull a register and look inside. That's where we earned our 5-Star rating.

When Duct Cleaning Is Worth It

Worth doing: visible debris at the registers, after a remodel or construction, a new-to-you home where you do not know the history, a rodent or pest issue in the system, or ducts that have never been cleaned in a house that is 10+ years old with pets.

Here is the thing about waiting: the buildup does not sit still. Every cycle pushes some of it back into the rooms you live in, and it keeps accumulating in the runs where your filter cannot reach it.

If you have been in the house ten years, have pets, or have never had it done at all, you are in the group that benefits.

Newer homes are not off the hook. It is common to find drywall dust, pieces of drywall, and insulation left from construction. We have literally pulled a Lay's chip bag and Coke cans out of vents. Construction crews leave things behind, and once a vent cover goes on, nobody looks again until someone like us takes it off.

Complete Air Duct Cleaning Service

Every job includes an HVAC system inspection, supply vent cleaning, return vent cleaning, register and grille cleaning, interior duct cleaning, and an airflow check.

We clean the accessible ductwork throughout the system, not just the vents you can see from the floor.

Agitation vs. Vacuum-Only

A vacuum at the register pulls loose dust sitting near the opening. It does nothing to the layer that has settled and bonded along the duct wall further in, which is most of what is actually in there.

Our approach is agitation-driven: the buildup has to be broken loose before anything can pull it out. When we use the reverse air ball, it drives debris back toward the register instead of pushing it deeper into the run. The agitation is what actually cleans the duct wall, and no amount of suction substitutes for it.

Signs Your Air Ducts May Need Cleaning

Dust buildup you can see at the registers, a house that needs dusting again within a day or two, a musty odor at startup, or specific vents that blow noticeably weaker. Recent remodeling or construction work counts too, and so does a house you just moved into with no maintenance records.

Optional Sanitizing Fogging

After the cleaning we fog the living space with Decon 30, an EPA-registered botanical disinfectant, and wipe down the registers with it. The label approves it on the metal, plastic, and vinyl those covers are made of, and it contains no bleach or ammonia, so it will not corrode a grille or dry out a vent flap.

What we never do is fog disinfectant into the duct system. Some companies sell duct fogging as air duct sanitizing anyway, and that is a good sign they do not know the equipment. Cleaning is what removes what is in the ducts. This treats the surfaces you actually touch and breathe past.

It is not a substitute for cleaning. $175 up to three bedrooms, $250 for four to seven.

Exhaust Fan Cleaning

Bathroom and laundry room exhaust fans pack with dust and lint and lose most of their pull. A fan that cannot move air leaves moisture in the room, which is how you get mildew on the ceiling. In a laundry room it is worse, since that fan is fighting the heat and humidity coming off the dryer. Most people have never cleaned either one. We pull the cover and clean the fan blade and the motor itself, not just the grille.

Some of those plastic covers are brittle, especially the older ones. If one breaks while we are cleaning it, that is on us and we replace it free. $50 per fan, and easy to add if we are already at the house.

Booking with us already? Whole-home fogging is often added to the same visit, $150 a visit on a monthly plan up to 3 bedrooms, $225 for 4 to 7.

Why Arizona Duct Systems Fill Faster

Valley dust is fine enough to pass through a standard 1-inch filter, and your system runs for months straight in the summer moving air through those runs.

Attic ductwork is the other factor. Most Valley homes have flex duct in the attic, and the connections at the boots and plenum are not always sealed well, which pulls attic dust directly into the airstream. That is the real source in more homes than people expect.

Changing your filter every one to three months does more than anything else. Duct cleaning is a periodic reset, not a maintenance routine.

What Makes Pfaff Different

Every supply and every return, agitated and pulled clean.

We take our time. No job gets rushed to make room for the next one.

Every job Pfaff Cleaning Co. has taken on has been handled by our own team. We’re at a 5.0 on Google.

Duct cleaning is the service with the most overselling in this industry. We look first, we tell you what we see, and we quote a flat per-vent number so nothing changes once we are on site. We are not the cheapest quote you will get, and we are not trying to be. We price the job, not the appointment.

Locally owned, serving Chandler, Gilbert, Scottsdale, Mesa, Queen Creek, Tempe, Ahwatukee, Sun Lakes, Paradise Valley, Phoenix, Apache Junction, San Tan Valley, Maricopa, Goodyear, Peoria, Glendale, Surprise, Fountain Hills, and Cave Creek, plus commercial work across the Phoenix metro.

What People Ask Us About Their Ducts

Yes, We Have Seen Worse Ducts

People get embarrassed when we pull a register and show them what is in there. Do not be. That buildup took years, it is inside a system nobody can see into, and every house in the Valley has some version of it.

We show you what we find because you should know what you are paying for, not to make a point.

Dust Coming Back Too Fast? Vents Blowing Weak?

If you dust on Saturday and it is back by Tuesday, if one room never gets cold, if the vents have visible buildup around the register, or if the air smells musty when the system kicks on, those are the reasons people search for duct cleaning in the first place.

Weak airflow from a single room is usually a duct problem. Weak airflow everywhere is usually the system itself, and we will tell you which one you have rather than cleaning something that was never the issue.

AC Vent Cleaning and Duct Sanitization

Air vent cleaning covers the supply registers, the return, and the duct run behind them. Air duct sanitization, or duct sanitization, is the optional fogging step covered above.

Cleaning removes what is in there. Sanitizing then treats the living space, never the duct system.

Air Duct Cleaning FAQs

Please reach us at (480) 389-8415 if you cannot find an answer to your question.

How often should I change my air filters?

Every one to three months for most Valley homes, depending on the filter type, pets, and how hard the system is running. Check it monthly in summer, when the AC runs nonstop. Changing your filter on schedule does more for your ducts than anything else, and cleaning is the periodic reset.

Why is air duct cleaning important?

Because dust in the ducts gets pushed back into your rooms every time the system runs. Valley dust is fine enough to pass a standard 1-inch filter, and leaky attic duct connections pull in attic dust too. Cleaning removes the layer already built up along the duct walls, where your filter cannot reach.

How often should air ducts be cleaned?

Every few years for most homes, sooner with pets, allergies, or nearby construction. It is worth doing after a remodel, when you move into a home with no maintenance records, or if a house over 10 years old with pets has never been done. If you are unsure, pull a register cover and look.

What are signs my air ducts need cleaning?

Visible debris at the registers, dust back within a day or two of cleaning, a musty smell when the system kicks on, or weak airflow from certain vents. The easiest test is to pull a register cover and look inside with a flashlight. A coating of dust there means the other runs have it too.

How long does the service take?

Most homes take a few hours, depending on the number of vents and returns and how much buildup is inside. Every run is agitated, then vacuumed out at the register, plus setup and cleanup. Homes with heavy buildup or many openings take longer, and we do not rush to fit in another job.

Do you clean both supply and return ducts?

Yes. Every accessible supply run and every return gets cleaned end to end, along with the registers and grilles. Returns often hold the most dust and pet hair, so they are never skipped.

Can air duct cleaning help with odors?

It can, when the odor comes from dust and debris built up inside the ducts. Cleaning removes that source, and our optional Decon 30 fogging treats the living space and registers afterward. If the smell is coming from somewhere else, we will tell you instead of selling a fix that will not work.

Do you offer dryer vent cleaning too?

Yes. Dryer vent cleaning is a separate service that clears lint from your dryer's exhaust line, not your HVAC ducts. It starts at $129, and we recommend it about every 10 months for a typical household. Learn more about our dryer vent cleaning.

Do you offer HVAC maintenance services?

We offer HVAC system cleaning, which covers the coils in addition to the ducts. Coil cleaning is flat rate, $200 per outdoor condenser and $350 per evaporator coil in the air handler. We do not do HVAC repairs, so a damaged run or a failing unit goes to an HVAC contractor.

How much does air duct cleaning cost?

It is $55.25 per supply vent or return when you book online, or $65 at the regular rate. Count your openings and multiply. A home with 7 openings is $386.75 online, and a home with 10 vents and 2 returns is $663. No tax is added and there are no hidden fees.

What is the difference between agitation and vacuum-only cleaning?

Agitation breaks loose the dust bonded to the duct walls, and vacuum-only does not.
