We're in Fountain Hills all the time, and we take on grout repair across the city.
We fix loose and cracked grout in Fountain Hills tile, finding why it failed before a grout saw cuts out the bad joints. Choose the repair type below for a range and text it to book, or call (480) 389-8415 any day between 7am and 8pm.
Fresh grout always reads a shade off from old grout. A color seal afterward ties every line together.
Price it yourselfA lot of Fountain Hills homes date from the 1970s through the 1990s, and their grout has had decades to work loose. The usual trouble spots are the joints along baseboards, the corners of original showers, and the busy run from the garage to the kitchen.
Pfaff Cleaning Co. is locally owned. Our full repair method and service area are on the main grout repair page.

What changes the range: the amount of failed grout, whether cracked grout still in the joint has to be sawed out, joint width, tile size and pattern, baseboard protection, and whether fresh grout is ordered or you supply your own. The optional clean and color seal is priced at our standard tile rates.

Splitting a shower into two visits, repair first and color seal after the cure, is what makes new and old grout read as a single job.

Grout on shower walls, floors, and backsplashes: joints that crumble, cracks at baseboards and corners, and shower seams that have split open. We cut out only what failed, refill it, let it cure, then color seal so the old and new lines match. Some people call this grout replacement, but it is section by section, never the entire floor.
A bad mix at install. Too much or too little water and the grout never cures to full strength, so it slowly powders out of the joint. Settling. Houses shift slightly over the years, and grout cracks first where tile meets something rigid, like a baseboard or an inside corner. Daily shower wear. Water, soap, and calcium eat at shower grout until it splits and loosens.
Moisture behind the tile is another matter. When water is trapped under a pan or behind a wall, it keeps forcing its way out through the joints and any repair will fail again. Chalky white residue, lines that stay dark for hours, tiles that move, or a musty smell are the warning signs. If we spot them, you hear about it before we start, since that calls for pan or waterproofing work from a contractor.
Floor repairs carry a one-year guarantee against the repaired grout cracking or loosening under normal use. It does not cover new settling cracks somewhere else, water damage, structural movement, or repairs done with grout you supplied. Showers are not guaranteed, whether repair, cleaning, or color sealing. Some last for years and some fail fast, and a short life does not mean the work was poor. Water, soap, calcium, airflow, and moisture behind the tile are beyond our control, though running the exhaust fan during and after showers helps.
Full regrouts, tile replacement or tile repair, and caulking. If the job turns out bigger than a grout repair, we tell you at the start.
It is all hand work, so the grout line sets the price, not the product. Each joint is cleaned, colored by hand, and wiped off the tile face before it sets. Let that window pass and a haze stays on the tile for good.
Practice is what keeps it clean, not shortcuts. Someone new to it tends to smear color on the tile and miss the joints tucked under cabinet edges.
Repairs hold when the tile below is still bonded. Cracked lines, gaps, crumbling joints, and chipped-out corners all come back looking right on solid tile.
Hollow tile is different, and you can hear it. Tap across the floor: bonded tile sounds tight, loose tile sounds hollow. Loose tile flexes and cracks fresh grout within months. We tap before we quote, and if it sounds hollow we send you to a tile setter rather than charge you to fill a joint that will fail.
When a Fountain Hills shower is beyond cleaning, shower grout restoration usually means split seams, gaps in the corners, and grout that crumbles under a fingernail. We repair the failed sections and reseal them, but we do not regrout a whole shower, and we will tell you that before we come out.
Fountain Hills was laid out in 1970, and neighborhoods kept filling in for decades after, so a lot of the original tile has had thirty or more years of settling. Homes built into the hillside slopes see their share of shifting too, and that shows up as cracked grout at the baseboards and in the corners. In the showers, years of hard water calcium do the rest.
Almost all of it is a repair job, not a teardown, and repair is what we do.
We schedule the repair and the follow-up clean and color seal at the same time, so both dates are on the calendar before work begins.

No. We are fully insured and focus on targeted grout repairs in showers, floors, and backsplashes around Fountain Hills. Loose tile and water trapped behind a shower wall belong to a different trade, and we tell you that up front.
It depends on the type of repair and how many spots or rooms are involved, and the quote tool gives your range in about a minute. Joint width, tile layout, and cutting out cracked grout with a grout saw all affect it, and a photo confirms the figure. Repairs are not discounted online.
You can, and it may trim your price a little. Grout has a shelf life of about a year, though, and a bag from an older Fountain Hills build is well past it. We suggest fresh grout, because repairs made with yours fall outside the floor guarantee.
Plan on about 12 days with color sealing: roughly 5 for the new grout to cure, then 7 after the color seal. Skip that shower the day before we arrive too.
Not by itself. New grout looks different from grout that has aged for years. See grout color sealing.
No. We take out the grout that failed and replace it.
Floors, yes, for one year on the repaired grout under normal use. Shower repairs, cleaning, and color sealing carry no guarantee, since hard water and moisture behind the tile are out of our hands.
Usually water is trapped under the pan or behind the tile and keeps pushing through new grout, often after years of hard water wear opened the way.
Glass is not something we take on, but the tile, stone, and grout around it are. For hard water spots on glass we suggest Bio-Clean Hard Water Stain Remover, which is non-acidic and will not etch nearby stone or grout. Try a small test spot first.
Yes. Baseboard and corner cracks are among the most common repairs we do, and we cover and protect the baseboards while we work. A color seal after the cure blends them in.
