Material comes first. The wrong solution on wool causes browning, dye bleed, or fiber damage that cleaning cannot undo, so we identify what you own before anything touches it.
Wool, Persian, oriental, and hand-knotted rugs are normal work for us, cleaned right in your home. The only rug we do not clean is one with viscose in it, even a blend, and we tell you before starting if that is what you have.
In a house with a dog and kids, the pet line is often the biggest swing on the quote, bigger than the fiber. On a 5x8 synthetic that cleans for $68, a few accidents adds $75, more than the rug itself. On an 8x10, the jump from one accident ($55) to repeat spots that soaked through ($195) is $140.
So count before you click. One spot, two or three, a lot of visible staining, or the same spot hit again and again until it went through to the floor: those are the five levels, and picking the right one gets you an honest number. Treating a rug at the lighter level, before a second and third accident land in the same place, is the cheaper path.
Many two-story plans out here have an upstairs loft that turns into the playroom, and that rug takes juice, slime and crayon. Protectant on an 8x10 runs $35, $28 on a 5x8. On a rug that gets something spilled on it every week, that is usually the best money on the quote.

Socks are fine once it is no longer damp to the touch, usually a few hours. Give it up to a day before furniture and shoes go back on.
