Downtown Glendale is known for its antique shops, and a lot of the older rugs we see here came out of them with no tag at all. That matters for the price, because the fiber you pick in the calculator is the biggest single thing on the bill: a 6x9 is $91.80 as synthetic and $160.65 as wool.
If the back shows hand-tied knots, or the dealer called it wool, choose wool. If you honestly cannot tell, make your best guess. Either way, we confirm the fiber in person before the rug gets wet, and if your pick was wrong, the price is corrected right there, up or down.
Watch for vintage-look rugs with a soft sheen sold as "art silk" or "bamboo silk." Those are viscose, and we decline them, blends included, because the fiber weakens once it gets wet and the damage does not reverse.
