Most rooms need a rug cleaning every 12 to 18 months. Spread over that time, an 8x10 synthetic at $136 works out to roughly $8 to $11 a month, and an 8x10 wool at $238 to about $13 to $20 a month.
The rug by the back door and any rug a dog sleeps on need it more often, so their yearly cost runs higher. A rug in a formal room nobody walks through can go longer.
When a Phoenix rug sits on real wood, like the Arcadia rug above, it is rolled up and the wet work is done in the garage or on the patio, so no water reaches the wood. The rug goes back in place when it is done, and the price is the same as cleaning it where it lies.
