Dryer Vent Cleaning in Mesa, AZ

Mesa is the largest city in the Valley and it grew in waves, which means dryer vent runs here vary more than anywhere else we work. A 1960s ranch near downtown and a new build out in Eastmark are two completely different vent situations.

Pfaff Cleaning Co. is locally owned, with the owners overseeing every job. See our full process and service area on the main dryer vent cleaning page.

Dryer Vent Cleaning Cost in Mesa

Flat pricing, and no visit minimum on dryer vent work. One vent is a job we will come out for. Multiple units in a building are priced per unit, which runs lower. These are already our lowest numbers, so the 15% online discount does not apply here.

The hose is the cheap part. Setting the dryer at the correct distance so the line does not crush, keeping the run short and straight, and sealing both connections is what keeps lint from packing up in a sag. If a connection we made comes loose, we come back and fix it free.

Price it in about a minute with the instant quote tool, or call (480) 389-8415.

We Confirm the Airflow Before We Leave

Before we pack up, we push the dryer back, make sure the hose has no gaps or leaks at the connections, and position it so it does not kink or get crushed against the wall. Ask and we will show you what came out of the line.

On the rare job the line needs a repair, a crushed duct, a disconnect in the wall, a bad termination, cleaning it will not fix the airflow and we will tell you that instead of charging you and leaving. We do not do vent repairs, so we point you to who does. That happens on a small number of jobs. The rest go clean and the airflow difference is major.

One thing about your hose. If the hose behind your dryer is intact we put it right back on, no upsell needed. If it is crushed, torn, or falling apart, we will not reinstall it, because that is the part that causes the next blockage and we are not putting our name on it. The semi-rigid aluminum upgrade takes the job from $129 to $228, and it is your call. If you pass on it, the hose stays off and reconnecting damaged ductwork is on you. Backed by our guarantee.

What Your Vent Cap Should Look Like

The best termination is a simple flap that swings open when the dryer runs and falls shut when it stops. No screen, no mesh, no cage.

Screens go on to keep birds out, and they do that. The problem is lint catches on the mesh from the inside, packs the holes, and chokes the airflow. A screened cap is the most common reason we find a vent that was cleaned recently and is already restricted.

Cleaning on a schedule handles the bird problem too. Birds nest in a line that has been sitting unused, which is why it hits snowbirds and anyone away for a week or more. If your Mesa place sat empty for a season, have the vent checked before you run the dryer, not after. If we find a nest, a damaged cap, or a screen packed with lint, it goes on your record as a repair rather than getting cleaned around.

Get Your Mesa Neighbors In on It

Ten or more homes on the same street, HOA, or community booked for the same day moves the whole group to our commercial per-unit pricing, well under the single-home rate. We have run a number of these already, whole streets in one day. The drive and setup get spread across the block instead of eaten by one house. Text (480) 389-8415 with a rough home count and we will price it before anyone commits.

The Screen on Your Vent Cap Is the Problem

A lot of vent hoods come with a screen or a cage over the opening. It keeps birds out, and it also catches lint on every load, because lint is exactly the size to pack into mesh. Once those holes fill, the dryer is pushing against a clogged screen every cycle.

An open flap with no cage is what you want. A damper that opens with the airflow and falls shut when the dryer stops, with nothing for lint to grab.

Birds are a real concern, but cleaning handles that better than a screen does. Every ten months or so, and again after a place has sat empty, which matters in Mesa if you travel or you are only here part of the year. A vent that has not run in a month is what a bird is looking for, and a cleaning clears the nest and the lint in one visit.

Complete Dryer Vent Cleaning in Mesa, AZ

Every job covers the whole vent line, from the back of your dryer to where it exits the house. We check the run first, brush the full length of the vent with a rotary brush, pull out the lint and anything else that has built up, clean the vent cover and flapper outside, and check the hose connecting your dryer to the wall for gaps or leaks. When we are done, we vacuum and clean up before we leave.

We work on every vent setup found in Mesa homes and businesses, from short sidewall runs to long two-story runs and roof terminations, plus condo and townhome systems, stacked units, and multi-unit rental properties.

Rotary Brush vs. Vacuum, DIY Kits, and the Leaf Blower Trick

A lot of cheap dryer vent cleanings are a shop vac at the opening and a receipt. That pulls the loose lint near the entry and leaves the packed deposits on the duct walls exactly where they were.

The hardware store DIY kits are worse. Those flexible rods thread together with plastic couplings, and when the brush hits a bend and binds, the rods unthread and separate inside the duct. Now there is a brush head jammed at an elbow you cannot reach.

The leaf blower trick moves the loose stuff and does nothing to packed lint bonded to the duct wall, because air alone does not scrub. What it does do is push debris toward a bend where it compacts harder than before.

Our rotary brush agitation breaks apart compacted lint, scrubs the inside wall of the line, and gets what a vacuum cannot reach.

However Long It Has Been, It Is Fine

The most common thing people say when we pull the line is some version of I know, I should have done this sooner. Most homeowners do not know dryer vents need cleaning at all, and plenty of the houses we service have never had it done since they were built. That is normal, not negligent.

You are handling it now, before it became a fire or a repair bill. That is the whole point.

Dryer Not Drying? Start Here

Clothes still damp after a full cycle is the number one reason people call us, and it is almost never the dryer. If your dryer takes two cycles, the laundry room gets hot, the clothes come out hot but wet, or you smell something burning, the vent line is restricted. The machine is working fine and cannot push the moisture out.

Same story with a dryer that shuts off mid-cycle, a vent flap outside that never opens, or lint showing up around the machine. Those are all airflow problems, and airflow is what we fix.

Dryer Throwing a Code? We Have You Covered

Modern dryers watch their own airflow, and when the vent is restricted they tell you about it. Whirlpool and Maytag machines throw F29 or a restricted airflow alert. LG shows d80, d90, or d95, which is the machine reporting how blocked the duct is. Samsung throws dC or a vent check message. GE flashes a clogged vent indicator, and plenty of others just stop mid-cycle or run cool.

Almost every time, that code is the vent line, not the dryer. A tech charges you a service call to tell you the same thing. Before you pay for an appliance repair, get the vent cleaned and see if the code clears, which it usually does.

Book the line and the lint trap housing, and the code is guaranteed. If an airflow code comes back within 14 days, we come back free and re-check the line. If the line is clear, that points at the machine, and we will tell you that straight instead of charging you again. Even on a basic cleaning, you find out for $129 instead of a repair bill.

Signs Your Dryer Vent Needs Professional Cleaning

Clothes taking longer than one cycle, especially towels and jeans. The dryer or laundry room running hot. Burning or musty smells during a cycle. Excess lint behind the machine. The outside vent flap not opening. The dryer shutting off before clothes are dry. You have never had it cleaned, or you just bought the house.

Our Dryer Vent Cleaning Process

  1. Inspection and assessment. We check the dryer connection, trace the run through the home, and identify restrictions before anything else happens.
  2. Rotary brush cleaning. Powered brush driven through the duct to break apart packed lint. The rods flex through elbows, which is the whole point on a run with turns in it.
  3. Lint removal. Loosened buildup comes out of the system instead of getting pushed further down the line.
  4. Exterior vent cleaning. We clean the vent cover on the outside wall and check the flapper. This is where we find bird nests and vent covers that have failed open or shut.
  5. Final check. We confirm the system is exhausting properly and walk you through what we found.

What to Expect on Cleaning Day

Most Mesa appointments run 45 minutes to an hour and a half depending on the length of the vent. Leave the dryer where it is, moving and reconnecting it is part of the service. Most vents exit through a sidewall and we clean those from both ends. Roof exits we usually clean from both ends, at the dryer and up top at the roof. On a straight run where we can see daylight through the vent cover from inside, the exit is confirmed clear, so we clean it from inside without going on the roof. On tall condo and townhome buildings we clean the full run from inside instead.

Optional Upgrades

Lint trap cleaning. Lint builds up inside the trap housing below where your screen reaches. If you clear the screen every load and dry times are still bad, this is usually where the rest is hiding.

Dryer hose upgrade. Old foil or plastic hose restricts airflow, crushes when the dryer gets pushed back, and catches lint in every ridge. We replace it with heavy-duty semi-rigid aluminum, sealed and clamped at both ends.

Both are optional. If your housing is clean and your hose is in good shape, we will say so and you pay for the vent cleaning and nothing else.

Protect Your Home & Dryer

According to the National Fire Protection Association, U.S. fire departments respond to an average of roughly 14,600 home fires a year involving clothes dryers or washing machines. Failure to clean is the leading contributing factor.

What the $69 Dryer Vent Special Actually Costs You

A $69 dryer vent special gets $69 worth of effort. Ours is $129 for the full line, brushed end to end. Anything beyond that is your call.

Then there is what goes back on. Plastic elbows and foil hose are common behind dryers here, and neither holds up. Plastic gets brittle in an Arizona laundry room and snaps, and the pieces end up in the duct where the next person has to fish them out. A connection that comes loose behind the machine vents hot lint into the wall cavity, which is the thing you were trying to prevent.

The other version we get called about is a dryer throwing an error code it never threw before, because the machine was pulled out, reconnected wrong, and shoved back against a crushed hose.

Our tiers are published and they do not move on site. Full duct run from the machine to the outside cap, both ends when the run needs it, semi-rigid aluminum where a hose is part of the job, the lint pile photographed before we vacuum it up, and a guarantee on every connection we make. If one comes loose, we come back and fix it free.

Why Mesa Homes Need Dryer Vent Cleaning

Older west and central Mesa homes often have short runs straight out a side wall, which is the best case, but many still have the original foil transition duct behind the dryer that traps lint far more readily than rigid metal. Newer east Mesa construction runs the opposite way, with laundry rooms placed in the interior of larger floor plans and long runs to a roof termination.

Mesa's large seasonal population adds a factor most cities do not have. A house closed up from May through October has a vent sitting untouched through the hottest months, and the first heavy laundry week after the owners return is when a restricted run makes itself known.

Mesa Runs Are Not All Alike

Because Mesa spans so many build eras, we do not assume anything about a vent until we see it. We check the termination type and the transition duct behind the dryer. If your dryer is not heating at all, that is an appliance problem and we will tell you that instead of taking payment for a cleaning that will not fix it.

Dryer Vent Cleaning Mesa, AZ FAQs

Please reach us at (480) 389-8415 if you cannot find an answer to your question.

How often should a dryer vent be cleaned in Mesa?

About every 10 months for a typical household, sooner with a large family, heavy laundry volume, a long run, or pets.

How long does dryer vent cleaning take?

Most residential jobs run 45 minutes to an hour and a half depending on the length of the run.

Can you clean dryer vents that exit through the roof?

Yes. We usually clean roof exits from both ends. On a straight run where we can see daylight through the vent cover from inside, the exit is confirmed clear and we do not need to go up. On tall condo and townhome buildings we clean the full run from inside.

My dryer is new. Do I still need this?

Yes. A new machine pushing against a restricted vent still runs long and hot. The vent is the part that loads up, not the dryer.

Will this actually improve performance?

If the line is restricted, yes. If your vent was in decent shape and the hose is the real problem, we will tell you that instead of selling you the full package.

Do you clean the dryer lint trap housing?

Yes, as an add-on. Lint gets past the screen and collects where you cannot reach it.

Do you replace dryer vent hoses?

Yes, with heavy-duty semi-rigid aluminum, sealed and clamped at both ends. If a connection we made comes loose, we come back and fix it free.

Can a clogged dryer vent cause a fire?

Restricted vents increase fire risk by reducing airflow and causing heat buildup. Failure to clean is the leading contributing factor in dryer fires.

Do you work with rental properties and property managers?

Yes. We work through multiple units in a single visit and provide documentation of completed work for your records.

How much does dryer vent cleaning cost in Mesa?

Basic cleaning is $129 flat with no visit minimum. Lint trap or premium hose packages are $228, and full service is $327.
