A rug is only as clean as the foundation under the pile.
Price it yourselfWalk into most Fountain Hills homes and the first thing underfoot is tile or stone, often all the way back to the view windows. The rugs laid over it carry the softness of the room, so they also carry the grit that the McDowell wind pushes under the doors.
Pfaff Cleaning Co. is a locally owned Arizona company. Our complete method and coverage area are laid out on the main area rug cleaning page.

Size sets the base price, and the fiber sets the rate per foot.
Wall-to-wall carpet in most houses is synthetic and fairly forgiving. Rugs are a mix of wool, cotton, jute, and blends, each with its own limits on heat, moisture, and pH, and getting one wrong leaves browning or dye bleed that no second pass will fix.
The per-foot price pays for that care: $1.70 a square foot online for synthetic and $2.98 for wool.
A few rugs we have cleaned around the Valley.

Plan on a few hours. We still quote up to 24 hours, because a thick wool pile on a cotton foundation lets go of moisture slower than a thin synthetic, and we would rather you be pleasantly surprised. Fountain Hills air is dry most of the year, which helps, but moving air matters more than dry air. Crack a window, turn on the ceiling fan, or switch the thermostat fan from AUTO to ON.
Want a head start? We bring commercial air movers, Dri-Pod 360s and a low-profile Syclone, and on request we run one on the rug while we are there.
Wool, synthetic, cotton, and blends, in shag, plush, and flatweave, along with sisal, jute, silk blends, hide rugs, and everyday machine-made pieces. Persian, oriental, and other hand-knotted rugs are routine for us, all cleaned right on your floor with nothing to roll up or haul out.
Viscose, also sold as art silk or bamboo silk. It loses strength the moment it gets wet, then twists, yellows, and stays that way. We turn it down even as part of a blend, and we will tell you before work starts if that is what you have.
The usual result is a rug that looks the way it did when it was bought. Some marks are not soil, though. Sun fading near west-facing glass, dye loss, browning left by an earlier over-wet cleaning, and urine that reached the foundation all count as damage. We work a mark before calling it permanent, and we tell you which category it falls in before we begin.
Synthetics hold their shape and their color, so they take in-home cleaning easily. Wool soaks up water, can shrink, and reacts badly to high-pH cleaners. Cotton foundations under hand-knotted rugs can brown or wick dye if too much water gets in, so we keep moisture low on those.
The product is Decon 30, a botanical disinfectant registered with the EPA. A fogger lays it down as a very fine mist that drifts over the rug and through the room, treating fibers and air together without wetting anything through.
Plenty of homes have a rug rolled up in a closet or a garage after a pet accident, a spill, or a leak left it smelling. Unroll it and let us look. Months in storage does not mean it is finished, and we will be honest about its chances before you spend a dollar.
Urine runs straight through the pile to the foundation and frequently onto the floor below. A surface pass leaves that deeper layer behind, so let us know about accidents when you book. The pet treatment in the price box is tiered by how far the urine has gone, up to repeat spots that soaked through.
Fountain Hills sits in a bowl of desert ringed by the McDowell Mountains, with open land toward the Fort McDowell side and the Verde River. Fine dust rides in on every breeze and settles across those long tile runs, and a sweep of the broom pushes it straight onto the nearest rug, where it sinks down to the knots.
Part-time residents add a twist. A house closed up through the summer gathers a layer of dust on everything, and the rugs hold the most of it when the owners come back in the fall.
Because town sits at the far northeast edge of our map, we fold rugs into the same visit as any carpet, furniture, or tile you are having done.
Fiber first, water second.
Rug cleaning reaches Eagle Mountain, FireRock, SunRidge Canyon, Crestview, the Golden Eagle area, the streets around Fountain Park, and every other corner of town, all at the same posted rate.

Synthetic rugs run $1.70 a square foot online ($2 regular). Wool runs $2.98 a square foot online ($3.50 regular).
Length times width in feet. An 8x10 is 80 square feet and a 6x9 is 54. Type each size into the price box above and it handles synthetic and wool separately.
No. Every rug, wool and hand-knotted ones included, is cleaned right where it lies in your home.
Yes. Wool gets products made for natural fiber, and any rug with uncertain dyes is spot tested first.
It weakens when wet, then distorts and discolors in ways that do not reverse, so we leave it alone, blends included.
Deodorizer handles smell and leaves a light floral scent. Sanitizing is Decon 30, a hospital-grade botanical disinfectant misted over the rug. Many people choose both.
Surface odor, yes. When urine has reached the foundation, it needs the heavier tier of pet treatment, so tell us about accidents up front. On a wood floor, we roll the rug up and do it in your garage or out on the patio, so the floor underneath stays dry.
Very. On most rugs the fringe is the end of the foundation, not trim sewn on, so mention it when you book and we handle it accordingly.
Usually a few hours. Moisture is kept low and the dry desert air speeds things up.
